Cypress Gates Picnic Fun

What a GREAT day. On Saturday, November 11th, 2017, residents gathered together to enjoy the first 2017 community event. The weather was perfect and the food was delicious. Name tags were given to all who attended and residents continued to enjoy existing friendships or make new neighborhood friends.

The hit of the picnic was Marilyn Cobb's Apple Cheese Casserole and below is the recipe:

APPLE CHEESE CASSEROLE

1 stick margarine, softened 8 oz. grated Velveeta cheese 1 cup sugar 2 cans sliced unsweetened apples

3/4 cup flour

Cream margarine and sugar. Add cheese. ( It is impossible to grate Velveeta, I cut into chunks). Continue beating until well blended. Add flour and mix well. Place apples in buttered 13 X 9 casserole. Cover with cheese mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 - 45 minutes. Golden brown on the top.

Note from Marilyn: I find it difficult to find canned sliced apples, but found them in Piggly Wiggly. It is also good with fresh apples.
